Older People's Fund Eligibility Checklist

Thank you for your interest in the Independent Age Older People's Fund.

Our application process is in two parts.

Part 1 is the Expression of Interest where you can tell us about your organisation and brief information about how you would like to use funding to help older people in financial hardship. After confirming your eligibility below, you will be able to submit an Expression on Interest using this form.

The Expression of Interest closes at 2pm on Thursday the 28th of August 2025. You will not be able to submit a form after this date.

Part 2 is the full application. If you are shortlisted to apply from your Expression of Interest, you will be invited to tell us more about your funding proposal. We'll ask for more detail and supporting documentation at this stage.

If your Expression of Interest is successful, we'll let you know by the 10th of September 2025. You will have 3 weeks to complete a full application after being invited.

Successful applicants will be informed by 12th December 2025 and funding will be awarded in February 2026.

Before proceeding to submit your Expression of Interest for the programme, please review and confirm your eligibility for the funding programme below:

You are based in, or plan to deliver funded work in, one or more of the target areas for this grant programme. That is: Blackpool; Wyre; East Lindsey; Hastings; Thanet; Torbay; Rhyl

Your organisation has an annual income of between £125,000 and £5million

You are a registered charity with the Charity Commission

You have an appropriate safeguarding policy and procedures in place that meets our safeguarding policy requirements

You have at least 3 unrelated trustees legally responsible for the governance of your charity

You have been operating for at least 3 years, with at least 2 sets of accounts submitted to the charity regulator and no consecutive late annual returns submitted in the past 2 years

You have an equal opportunities or EDI policy in place to help your staff and the people you support

You have a bank account registered in your organisation's name with at least 2 unrelated signatories

Please note, if you do not meet all of the eligibility criteria, you will not be able to progress with an Expression of Interest. You can sign up to be notified of future funding opportunities through our mailing list here.

Please note: meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically mean you will be invited to make a full application. Shortlisting is based on several factors, with the project proposal being of key importance.

Your Grant Funding Request

Can you give us a brief summary of the work or project you wish to apply for? You do not have to fully prepare a funding proposal at this stage. If you are invited to progress to stage 2 and submit a full application, you will have the opportunity to expand on your proposal. 250 words max

Please tell us how your organisation is well placed to support older people in financial hardship, and how you intend to include private renters in your project delivery. Refer to the fund guidance for more information on Independent Age's priority groups. 250 words max.

Could you tell us the approximate number of people you would hope to support with funding over the duration of your 3 year grant? Please enter a number only e.g. 650

This only needs to be an approximate figure at this stage to provide a sense of the scale and/or depth of your proposal. You will be able to refine and finalise this if you progress in your application.

Could you tell us the approximate total grant funding amount you anticipate applying for? Grant funds available are £25,000-£50,000 per year over a 3-year period. This means you may apply for a total grant funding of between £75,000- £150,000.
